“After taking Intestinal Fortitude products for several months I definitely noticed improvements in my Gerd and leaky gut problems so was very happy to see the PREbiotic Gold added to the line. Before I even finishing my first bottle of PREbiotic Gold I experienced more energy and was actually sleeping better. After being without this product for about a week now I can certainly tell a difference so I placed another order and can't wait to get it back into my system. I do not want to be without this product again."
“This is my first time using a pre biotic alongside a pro biotic. After a few weeks, I can say that I highly recommend. I’ve been taking the probiotic 2x/ day and the pre- biotic 1x / day with great results. I’ve had improvement in IBS symptoms- less cramping, less bloating, overall improvement and more regularity. Will continue to use!”
"I have been using the Reduce, Repair, Rebuild package from Intestinal Fortitude for the past 9 months with excellent results! When they released the pre and pro biopics I was so excited to try them, they did NOT disappoint! I was diagnosed with UC 3 years ago. I have opted to change my diet and use these supplements instead of taking expensive pharmaceuticals. They help keep my gut happy and healthy. Give them a try, I’m so glad I did!!"
This product horrible pain after the first pill then I continued to take it for a few days and stomach and body pain got worse. I would like a refund.

After a lifetime of digestive & related health issues I was so happy to find Intestinal Fortitude's line of products! Adding the Prebiotic and Probiotic to my regimen is an additional step to my healthy life; and that certainly translates to happiness as well. The Prebiotic is providing a big boost to those "friendly bacteria" in our gut and paired with the probiotic - a real reboot to my health / life! Irritable Bowl, constipation, rashes, pain & cramping, inflammation, joint pain & brain fog... all gone! I see marked improvements in quality sleep, skin health, reduced inflammation & joint pain and my energy level is way up. I look and feel younger. I choose to use the whole line of Intestinal Fortitude's supplements; adding fuel to my desire to learn more about the real benefits of proper nutrition. My doctor is impressed with the changes and wants to learn from me. Wow!
I have been using probiotics along with anti-inflammatories as part of managing an autoimmune disease but hadn't really gotten into prebiotics until I tried this product from Intestinal Fortitude. I trust their products - they help me keep inflammation under control and heal my gut. I feels like the palette of IF "little helpers" is complete now.
Almost everyone knows about PRObiotics at this point. (Speaking of which, did you hear that the new and improved PRO-B11 is back? More on that later...) But not everybody knows about PREbiotics.
Prebiotics are nondigestible fermentable fibers that feed the bacteria in your gastrointestinal system. If you have heard of them, then you are probably familiar with FOS, GOS, and Inulin. These are the most common types in supplement form. They have very simple molecular structures and are rapidly fermented by the first bacteria to encounter them. This rapid fermentation leads to a few things that nobody wants, namely GAS and BLOATING. There's something else going on in there that does not reveal iself in such an obvious manner, but is in fact a way bigger problem.
Simple prebiotics like FOS/GOS/Inulin may only benefit the handful of bacterial species that are the fastest to ferment. This can cause an overgrowth of these few species to the detriment of the overall diversity of the gut microbiome.
Humans cannot digest large portions of the foods that we eat. People with digestive disorders even less so. We rely on bacterial enzymes to help us extract nutrients from the parts of our food that we cannot digest on our own. Different types of bacteria have different types of enzymes, and their byproducts have different functions within our bodies. We NEED a broad spectrum of these bacteria for maximum nutrient absoroption, but also for the other benefits they provide.
We're staying on the topic of PREbiotics, but let's take a quick detour over to POSTbiotics...
POSTbiotics are "functional bioactive compounds generated by gut bacteria during fermentation which promote gastrointestinal health." Short Chain Fatty Acids (SCFAs), primarily acetate, propionate, and butyrate are the end products of the bacterial fermentation that we've been talking about. Postbiotics have immunomodulating and antimicrobial effects, and most importantly for us, anti-inflammatory effects.
The other two are important, but let's shine a spotlight on butyrate! Butyrate promotes the repair and regeneration of the cells that line your intestinal tract, called epithelial cells. Butyrate provides an average of 70% of the energy that your colon and the colonocytes (epithelial cells in the colon) need.
Now here's where we circle back around to why the fast fermentation of FOS/GOS/Inulin is less than ideal.
Colonocytes use butyrate instead of sugars to generate energy for growth. If there is no butyrate, the colonocytes will eat their own proteins to survive. This causes breaks in the mucosal layer, leading to ulcers, and loosend the tight junctions of your gut lining.
PREbiotic GOLD is a high-quality, freeze-dried powder derived from non-GMO New Zealand Gold Kiwifruit. And while every capsule packs the wholefood goodness of 2 Gold Kiwifruit, it's the PECTIN that we are excited about here.
PREbiotic GOLD is gently processed and retains the kiwifruit pectin's complex structure in its natural form. The molecular structure has a "branch" on either end of the "core structure". I like to look at it like an OREO cookie. You've got the cookie on either end and that wonderful creme in the middle.
More complex fiber like kiwifruit pectin requires a variety of bacterial species with different degradative enzymes to break down and ferment "branches". Chains of different bacteria may develop, with additional organisms living off the waste products the primary fermenters. As the pectin passes through the colon and is fermented, new sections open and additional bacteria are able to come in and feed on it. The slower rate of fermentation equals a bigger variety of bacterial species that are able to feed and grow, and this will increase the diversity of your microbiome.
Does everybody remember what POSTbiotics are? Well, when PREbiotics are rapidly fermented early in the colon you enf up with most of the beneficial byproducts (such as SCFAs) accumulating in one section. However SCFAs, especially butyrate, are desperately needed in places other than just the start of the colon.
When the fermentation process is slow and you get a large community of species participating, the SCFAs will the be deposited along the entire length of the colon. Because you have that diverse community "hanging on" to the pectin as it passes, many of them will "let go" along the way. This will increase the diversity of the microbiome throughout the gut, rather than just in one place.
Now I know what you are thinking... what about that fantasic creme center?!?!? Who gets to eat that?
Well, I'm glad you asked, because this the "piece de resistance"! PREbiotic GOLD is called a precision prebiotic because it ultimately has a precise target in mind. The lucky recipient of the pectin "core" or the creme in this example, is a little guy call Faecalibacterium prausnitzii. Or F. prau as his friends call him.
F. prau is one of the most abundant bacterial species in the human gut, accounting for around 5% othe the total bacterial population of a healthy individual. F. prau dramatically increases the amount of butyrate inside the gut. And remember the benefits of butyrate are...
Energy source for colonocytes
Improved intestinal cell life cycle
Enhanced intestinal barrier function
Promotes cell death in malignant (bad) cells
Helps control pathogens
Controls intestinal motility
Unfortunately, a lack of F. prau is associated with IBD, IBS, and other gastrointestinal issues. So, let's just get some more right?!?!? It's not that simple.
When we were researching bacterial species for our PRO-B11 prbiotic supplement we came across the name faecalibacaterium prausnitzii over and over again in the scientific literature. When we first spoke with our manufacturing partner we told them that it was the the top of our list for strains we wanted to include. that's when we found our that F. prau is not available as a commercial probiotic supplement because it dies almost instantly when it comes into contact with oxygen.
Since we can't get it from an external source, the best strategy is to do all that you can to help the F. prau that you already have. Research shows that Gold kiwifruit pectin helps F. prau communites to flourish and recover. One clinical study showed that F. prau levels doubled in patients that supplemented with it. While taking the F. prau itself is not an easy option, taking the precision prebiotic it needs to thrive is!!!
One PREbiotic GOLD capsule daily is all you need to start fertilizing the garden that is your microbiome.
Oh, we almost forgot! While your FEEDING your garden, why not SEED your garden with the new and improved PRO-B11 probiotic supplement?!?!?
